Cool Guys

CoolGuys

Men have always gotten a free pass when it comes to going silver. We’re culturally attuned to saying it looks “distinguished” (not old), “sophisticated” (not witchy), and sexy (not, well, sexy!). Still, many wouldn’t let it go beyond that dashing bit of gray at the temples until they were, in fact, old. Think Cary Grant. Clark Gable. Well, today’s modern male generation is breaking new grounds. They’re showing it all. Going gray as naturally, and as gracefully, as their female counterparts. And we applaud them all!

Of course, current ad campaigns can be just as intimidating as they are for women. One campaign shows a man who looks “experienced” against split/screen “youthful.” The fear factor comes in about which man would you hire? Another shows two daughters begging their father to color his hair so he can get a date. These belong in the give me a break category! If a man looks youthful (Anderson Cooper, Eric Dean), he will continue to look youthful, no matter what COLOR his hair his. If he doesn’t, all the orange-turning dye in the world won’t help him. You don’t need it, guys, to be Great Grays!

Continue to send in your suggestions for great lookin’ CoolGuys. After all, we can look, can’t we?

Oh good heavens! I just had to pour my ice tea down my back!!

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:11 PM

Heee, too funny. LOL Ok, let’s vote—which one is your fave?

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/07 at 04:14 PM

I think I need them to parade across the stage in their swimsuits pleeease!

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:15 PM

LOL Goldie you’re hysterically funny!  I must have sat here for ten minutes trying to decide which was my favotite and well since I’d hate to play favorites I guess all have to take all or nothing!

Posted by Marisa on 07/07 at 04:16 PM

Oh see, now I’m drooling, I meant to say favorite!

Posted by Marisa on 07/07 at 04:17 PM

Hee,hee...so stunned you can’t type Marisa? hee…

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:19 PM

Well, Marisa, drooling is better than having to get the tissues out! wink Goldie, hmmmmm, a swimsuit competition? Boggles the mind.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/07 at 04:20 PM

For me it’s a toss-up between Michael McDonald & Sting. I am partial to musicians.  My DH actually sounds like Michael McDonald!  The first time my DH & I heard Sting’s song, “Fields of Gold” it became “our song”.

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:26 PM

I’m on the fence, too. George Clooney and Pierce Brosnan. Ok, I’ll take both, please.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/07 at 04:29 PM

Hmm, my mind is boggled enough.  NW pulled a fast one on me the minute DH left for an overnight trip.  the tissues might come out we DH returns home late tonight.  Well, either the tissues or the boxing gloves.  I’m not a push over by any means but I am smaller so there’s only so much I can do.  I’m just glad MY CoolGuy will be back soon.

Swimsuits, ya, that would take my mind off my troubles, oh ya!

Yup, Goldie great silver sisters think alike, those are my two Faves.

Posted by Marisa on 07/07 at 04:29 PM

Oh Marisa, I’m sorry you’re needing tissues. Put on a Michael McDonald or Sting CD & dance around the room! Then stop, eat chocolate.  Dance some more. Then have a glass of wine. Dance again. Before you know it, your CoolGuy will be home! (I love Michael McDonald singing Motown!)

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:36 PM

Uh-oh. If NW is up to any antics, that boggles the mind, too. Good luck, Marisa!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/07 at 04:42 PM

How about Anderson Cooper?  I’m sure his eyes wouldn’t be nearly as blue if his hair wasn’t white!  What kind of swimsuit are we tlking about? smirk

Posted by happyhart on 07/07 at 04:54 PM

BTW, I personally would love to see Donny Osmund with some silver threads!

Posted by happyhart on 07/07 at 04:55 PM

Well, Donny Osmond married someone else & broke my heart as a teen...so I’m still mad at him!

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 04:56 PM

Oh man oh man it’s a no brainer............STING!!!!  He is the ultimate cool gray guy.  As Jewel once wrote in a song....."fashionably sensible but too cool to care” He is so HOT......where’s the ice tea Goldie? LOL

Posted by lulubell on 07/07 at 05:20 PM

Heee...I’m making a new pitcher right now, lulubell! Don’t know who else might need some before the voting is over!

Posted by Goldie on 07/07 at 05:43 PM

Goldie, you are a riot!

Diana, I’ve got a few more Hollywood guys - Sean Connery, Mark Harmon, Jon Stewart, and Steve Martin.

And how could we all forget Taylor Hicks! His hair got more press than his singing (maybe for good reason?!).

And what about Kris Kristofferson? I’ve always loved him!

Nadine

Posted by lookingrayt on 07/07 at 08:51 PM

Kris Kristofferson is in my book. As for the others, this is going to have to hold everybody for awhile. Thank you for your suggestions, and keep watching!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/07 at 09:10 PM

mark harmon...i know he’s not pictured here but he is pictured in my head!!!!

and he wears camel sometimes....works for me....
as far as the “pictured ones” ....richard gere..he’s a cutie pie… cool smile

Posted by louann on 07/07 at 09:31 PM

Ah yes, I do like a man with silver hair

Posted by Sharon on 07/08 at 12:43 AM

It’s like being left at the pic & mix (LOTS AND LOTS OF FAB CANDY!!) can I have a scoop of each please?? no, well Richard and George will do nicely then!! rasberry,
I love a man with silver hair, no really..my DH is silver, one of the things that first attracted me!!

Matt LeBlanc has a lot of silver now, I read somewhere that he was made to colour for ‘Friends’ and ‘Joey’, and when seen in his natural colour, he was accused of ‘letting himself go’....thats the media for you.. I thought he was even more sexy!!!

Silverchic, newbies summer 09

Posted by silverchic on 07/08 at 02:11 AM

I _love_ silver-haired men!  My two favorite pictures above are George Clooney and Eric Dane, from Grey’s Anatomy.  Michael McDonald’s soulful _voice_ is definitely his most outstanding feature…

Posted by Underneath It All on 07/08 at 04:56 AM

OK, I have to weigh in here too.  I can’t pick just one, so my votes are, in no specific order: Pierce Brosnan and George Clooney.  As for the more mature men, have to say Sean Connery, for sure!  Love him!  And for the younger generation, Eric Dane. He’s a hottie sure! cool smile  ;-
P

Posted by Aziza on 07/08 at 11:17 AM

Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer) is another silver cutie...I love how Latino men look with silvery hair against their dark skin and eyes.

Posted by Underneath It All on 07/08 at 01:41 PM

Diana, Phillip Schofield is looking a little lonely there in the international section so I’m nominating the rather attractive Venetian Francesco da Mosto. An Italian silver fox.
http://www.independenttalent.com/presenters/francesco-da-mosto

Posted by Sharon on 07/08 at 01:51 PM

I have to say, “classy” italians look good no matter what color their hair is wink

Posted by Aziza on 07/08 at 02:03 PM

Whew, Sharon, this Da Mosto guy is truly the most! LOL And so interesting, too. What a vagabond life he’s led. I agree with you, Aziza, about Italian men. Mmmmmm, back to Dean Martin.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/08 at 02:13 PM

And Da Mosto is a “Count” no less!!

Posted by Aziza on 07/08 at 03:52 PM

OK, here’s switching it up a bit.  Who do you most look FORWARD to seeing sport the silver?  My vote is Antonio Banderas, aka Zorro.  wink

Posted by Aziza on 07/08 at 04:03 PM

The Count is coming. . . I know two names are screwed up. . . Taylor Hicks is somewhere. . . been a long day. sick

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/08 at 07:26 PM

Sharon—thanks for keeping us up to date on the Internationals. But I know we have members in other countries. Come on, gals, who are YOUR CoolGuys?

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/09 at 10:54 AM

Okay, ladies.  Now hold onto whatever you’d like to hold onto… here’s one for us gals and #1 on my list.

The incomparable Italian tenor, ANDREA BOCELLI!
Be still, my beating heart.

Gregory Peck
Paul Newman
Laurence Olivier
David Letterman

Posted by Barbara on 07/09 at 12:29 PM

Oh yeah, that’s good. As for some of the others, what I’m trying to do here is show the new generation of gray guys. Not the legends. I put Sean Connery, Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier et al. in legend category. We watched them transition, sure, but usually not before they “earned it” (or their hairline receded, whichever came first!) This new young crop of guys is daring to do it much younger. Kinda like us. LOL I think that’s so cool. I suppose Letterman should go up there, though.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 07/09 at 12:58 PM

So I’m thinking!

Alec Baldwin - 51, funny and he played a doctor in a movie.

Hugh Laurie - 50, the thinking womens’ sexy man, very funny and plays a doctor.

Dr. Drew Pinsky - 50, handsome and he is a doctor.

President Barack Obama - 47, and he is The Commander In Chief.

David Gregory - 37, moderator on Meet the Press.

Eric Dane - 36.

Am I heading in the right direction?

Barbara

Posted by Barbara on 07/10 at 08:42 AM

John O’Hurley - 54, actor.

Michio Kaku - 62, Theoretical Physicist.

President Bill Clinton - 62, philanderer.

Oh, did I mention the Italian lawyer, Andrea Bocelli?  Seriously, he has a law degree from U of Pisa.

Just read an article written by our Andy C. about going gray.  He is a riot!

His words:

“Going gray is like ejaculation.  You know it can happen prematurely, but when it actually does, it’s a total
shock”.

“Premature gray means you reap the benefits of living a righteous life without having to actually live the righteous life”.

“You get to cut in line.”

Love that guy!

Barbara

Posted by Barbara on 07/10 at 10:57 AM

Barbara....love those quotes grin and Andy C! I just had to google Anderson Cooper and “going gray” and see if I could find the article and I did! What a great article and here is the link for anyone else that wants to check it out…

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/16/going.gray/index.html

Funny insights on both men and women going gray.

Gotta love him!

Nadine

Posted by lookingrayt on 07/10 at 11:14 AM

i love the article....thanks

Posted by louann on 07/10 at 04:37 PM

Andy told it like it is. Great hair!

Checked out the ages of some of the coolguys.

Ted Turner - 70
Michael Douglas - 64
Harrison Ford - 67
Rod Stewart - 64 (his hair doesn’t look gray)
Kenny Rogers - 70
Vince McMahon - 63
Henry Winkler - 63

Ooooh, I love Jon Stewart’s and George Clooney’s hair.
George looks great no matter what his hair looks like. (swoon)

Barbara

Posted by Barbara on 07/13 at 11:52 AM

I have to say, I just love that Jimmy Page (lead guitarist for Led Zeppelin) is no longer dying his hair.  He still has that fabulous rock star look, end even more distinguished I think.

New documentary film coming out with Page, The Edge, and Jack White. Nice photos here:  http://www.sonyclassics.com/itmightgetloud/main.html.

I saw a preview last week in the theater and was literally squealing with delight!

I know these guys don’t have much hair but what about Ed Harris cool smile & Phil Collins.

Posted by Marisa on 07/17 at 05:05 AM

Ooo, I just took a second look at Matt Leblanc, he looks rugged.  Letting himself go?  I THINK NOT! surprised

Posted by Marisa on 07/17 at 05:07 AM

MsWoolfe- I will be sending this link to my oldest son.  He probably already knows about it, but he’s a big fan also.

One of his best friends is in the Raconteurs band with Jack White.  He’s a young man that we’ve known for years. (Used to come to the house for dinner all the time!) He has beautiful hair, no gray yet though!

Posted by Goldie on 07/17 at 07:09 AM

My favorites are not listed:  Sam Elliott, Vincent D’Onfrio and Sean Connery.  Oh Lordy, just typing Sam Elliott’s name--I have been slap dab in love with that man since I was a child.  My husband calls Vincent D’Onfrio my “boyfriend.” Heavens, he is gorgeous.  Sean Connery is simply Sean Connery--nothing else needs to be said.

As far as newsmen go, Dan Abrams lets his gray show and I think he is a beautiful man.

Marisa, as far as not much, I loooove bald men.  Billy Zane, Telly Savalas, Vin Diesel, Ali Velshi (from CNN).  I say if you can’t have gray hair, have no hair!!!!!

Posted by greatmom on 08/03 at 04:22 PM

Ditto on the bald, greatmom!  Just don’t tell my DH.  He still has a full, well mostly full, head of hair.  cool hmm

Do you have pics Greatmom?  I thought i’d seen you somewhere but we’re big now and it’s hard to keep up when you’re like me and can only visit occasionally.

Posted by Marisa on 08/06 at 08:43 PM

Miaou said the kitty as it checked out the men on this page.

How about Kent Nagano? Hot hot hottie orchestra conductor and as sweet, smart and passionate as they come…

Posted by gardenmimine on 09/15 at 04:45 AM

May I suggest Michael Tillson Thomas, conductor - San Francisco Symphony!

Andrea Bocelli, Italian opera virtuouso.

Posted by Barbara on 09/15 at 09:02 AM

thanks for putting Kent up there!
He is now a little bit grayer then on that picture.

Posted by gardenmimine on 09/21 at 04:26 AM

Another international silver fox for you: Baz Luhrmann

http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/JaU-205yn-D/Australia+Week+2009+Jacob+Creek+New+York+Black/0DfSGEOFzPD/Baz+Luhrmann

Posted by Sharon on 09/29 at 05:34 AM

Just watched the last episode of Gray’s Anatomy and noticed the producers have both Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey covering their gray.  Bad dye jobs too, I might mention. Especially Eric’s, it almost seemed reddish to me.  I was very disappointed to say the least. I thought their gray was very distinguishing and so much more appealing.  Anyone else catch that?

Posted by Aziza on 10/12 at 07:16 PM

Love the Gray Guys.. smile Love Richard Gere’s color.

Posted by LillyinOC on 10/20 at 09:59 PM

Ahh, Diana, what it must be like for you...pouring over all these Cool Guys pics, wondering who gets in...NEED ANY HELP??? Heee....

Posted by Goldie on 10/23 at 06:29 PM

Yeah, it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. wink

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/23 at 07:32 PM

What an enjoyable page smile

Posted by Sharon on 10/24 at 04:19 AM

The most striking is Ben Stiller, in my opinion. He was never a handsome man really...funny, but nothing to write home about looks-wise. Now though...WOW! The gray really brings out those eyes and makes him something special.

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/24 at 04:29 AM

Oh, and I forgot to add that I am SO glad he isn’t going the same route as his dad with that fake-o red shoe polish dye job. LOL

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/24 at 04:30 AM

personally i think they all look great and are “aging” quite nicely!!!! funny thing about kenny rogers though ...he didn’t mind the hair going but he sure did screw it all up with all that ridiculous plastic surgery…
the fonz looks a little like the temples are ok but is he still coloring the top??? it seems to have that “touch of red”...gere and harmon are some of my all time faves! thanks for “silver lining” smile

Posted by louann on 10/24 at 05:59 AM

Oh, yea, louann.  They certainly are aging ever so handsomely!

Of course, they all have that savoir-faire....which literally means “knowing how to do”.  May we all absorb some of that into our lives!

Posted by Goldie on 10/24 at 09:57 AM

It’s true about Ben Stiller - he was nothing special when he was younger but now he’s very sexy

Posted by Sharon on 10/25 at 01:11 AM

Diana, I’ve got another international guy for you - Alan Rickman grin
Obviously not in his Harry Potter role when he wears a shocking black wig though!
Here he can be seen in his silver glory http://www.contactmusic.com/pictures/alan_rickman/1-1

Posted by Sharon on 10/25 at 01:16 AM

George Clooney every time! cool smile

Posted by Chrissy on 10/25 at 01:43 AM

I loved George C. back in his days on “Sisters” and his early days on “ER”. These days he irritates me though...something about him and his childishness and silliness in interviews, as does as his constantly revolving door of ever younger model girlfriends. This doesn’t mean he’s not hot to look at though. wink If he’d just keep his mouth shut and commit to one woman--ANY woman. LOL

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/25 at 05:06 AM

I’m with you ladies.  Ben Stiller is looking quite HOT!

Posted by Leej on 10/25 at 06:27 AM

Yeah- it’s those eyes! gulp

Posted by Chrissy on 10/25 at 07:33 AM

Awwww...Richard Gere...still my fave.  smile

Posted by Ravenjourney on 10/25 at 01:07 PM

YES! Richard looks wonderful with the white hair--better than when he was in American Gigolo, which is tough to beat.  smile Loved him in Nights in Rodanthe recently, although the movie was sort of sub-par compared to the book. He was HOT!

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/25 at 01:14 PM

My favorite international guy is Colin Firth.  Although, based on the pics I’ve looked at he colors his hair.  I did find this one though: http://www.contactmusic.com/pics/mb/genova_premiere_2_221008/colin_firth_2135348.jpg
Finally sporting a little gray around the edges.  If we could just get him to grow it all out!  He’d be even more stunning. smile

Posted by Silver Mama on 10/27 at 03:46 AM

He’ll do nicely—his beard counts, too! LOL

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/27 at 07:06 AM

love colin firth...he was a pretty cool Mr. Darcy...he looks a little “red” on top though so probably is hitting the bottle…
spent the weekend in viva las vegas...that place is a little too much glitter and there are some grays...not looking so great...although it really wasn’t their gray hairs fault..haha politics aside...i was flipping thru the channels not to long ago and caught a glimpse of sean hannity...ok he is definitly putting some dark back in his hair ...too bad he had a nice crop of white/silver going...maybe he needs to tune into anderson cooper… tongue laugh

Posted by louann on 10/27 at 09:09 AM

That’ll be the day—Fox copying CNN!  I think Sean Hannity is cute. He’s gotta stop with the dye, though. Colin Firth will go up shortly. We’re having a little problem with the Internationals.  They just won’t behave and go where they should.  angry

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/27 at 09:51 AM

I hadn’t noticed that Sean was coloring lately...that’s really too bad because I liked his gray that was starting to come in. With it, he looks less baby faced and more serious news-like....less apt to continue to be a victim of the White House hit on FOX. LOL I’m outing myself as a conservative (mostly fiscal) with that statement, but that’s part of who I am. :-D

With regard to him coloring his hair though, there is probably a tremendous amount of pressure from all the different networks for their anchors and commentators to fit within a certain set of criteria looks-wise. Just more societal bias and pressure that really needs to go away.

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/27 at 09:51 AM

OK, I’ll jump into this with you, GoingNatural. Being the Fox regular that I am. But I think it goes beyond politics. I think any time you restrict the press, it goes against some very fundamental freedoms in this country. It smacks of KGB, and other press-controlled countries, and I, among others, think it’s a very serious issue. But enough of that rant.

Let’s go to people like Tom Brokaw, who was “allowed” to let his gray come in, Walter Chronkite, Dan Rather (oops, better not go there!). So I do think male anchors are ok to gray. Now, sigh, if we could only get female anchors to do it. Do ya think Diane Sawyer will EVER stop being so blonde? Barbara Walters? Or all the “local lovelies?” That’s where I think the “rules” come in. We have a newsgal back in the Newsflash section—and more power to her!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/27 at 10:07 AM

we have a lovely anchor here in la(colleen williams) that had this fabulous gray streak for ever ...and it has been gone for quite awhile… i used to think it was like an “attitude stripe”...loved it!!!

and just yesterday flipping through the channels i stopped on the view ...barbara walters is another one who could just let it all be natural!!!
well not to worry GoingNatural...i am with you as a semi lone conservative in this crazy town of la...but i know how to “play well with others” i wouldn’t have whole lot of friends in this town otherwise!!!!

my problem with the womens movement is it seemed to have stopped moving ... i thought we are all supposed to embrace our real selves...well that’s what i am doing !! and i think it is a total blast!!! smile

Posted by louann on 10/27 at 10:55 AM

Diana, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! wink I was also quite pleased when some of the other networks (even those prominently featured in Bernie Goldberg’s, A Slobbering Love Affair) jumped in there to defend FOXNews, crying foul after that outrageous statement was made. Jake Tapper was bold and showed the mark of a true journalist when he went after Robert Gibbs that day. Journalism is not dead, it was only sleeping!

Regarding the hair issue, I think you’re right--men are allowed to go gray on air more often than women, that’s true. But, I think there would still be a bias these days towards keeping the same look you were hired with, i.e., Sean was hired on with that scruffy “little boy” look, so there might be a tendency for his makeup and wardrobe person or his producer to say, yanno Sean, I’m noticing a bit of snow on the roof there, why don’t you let us touch that up for you real quick so you’ll look exactly like your promo head shot. :-D

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/27 at 12:13 PM

I’m sure it spoke to the journalists’ hearts, GoingNatural, but I also think they knew they could be next if they step out of “favor.” So for once, we had a little solidarity. Then it was business as usual. The story died quickly on all but Fox. I do side with Sean when he says impartial journalism is dead. Nothing like having a pet peacock in your pocket! Guess I’m just fired up about this.

Louann—who’d a thunk it? Gee, I hope you don’t run into Sean Penn in a dark alley. Or Barbara Streisand, or. . .ad infinitum. You’re “outed!” You just shake your silvers at them and go, girl!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/27 at 01:04 PM

To run into Sean Penn, you might need to hang out with Chavez or Castro!!! LOL!!!  On a serious note, what about Sam Elliott???  I noticed that my “boyfriend,” Vincent Donofrio, and my Favre-ulous Brett Favre are on the list, though, so I’ll let Sam slide if necessary!!!!

I certainly didn’t relize Matt LeBlanc was so gray. I think he looks better.  Ben Stiller is hilarious--hilarious always makes a man cute to me.

Posted by greatmom on 10/27 at 01:13 PM

OK, is everybody happy, here? Ya got your Colin, ya got your Sam.  Oz needs a break! confused

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/27 at 01:57 PM

Thanks Diana!  You are super fast!  I am quite happy.  I’ll leave other suggestions for another time. wink

Posted by Silver Mama on 10/27 at 02:01 PM

OMG!!!  You put Sam (my lifelong crush) beside my “boyfriend,” Vincent.  I’m currently fainting!!!!  Thank you!!!!

Posted by greatmom on 10/27 at 06:49 PM

well i must say the list is growing and it looks nice ..poor oz looking at those gray haired men...isn’t sam married to katherine ross???  alan rickman was a nice ad also unless i missed him earlier…

in the meantime the wind is blowing here in la ..i mean it’s really blowin’....and guess what ....MY ROOTS ARE SHOWING tongue laugh

Posted by louann on 10/27 at 09:51 PM

I’m happy I got my Alan Rickman cheese
Thanks Oz

Posted by Sharon on 10/28 at 02:33 AM

Isn’t it cute how you girls are so possessive of “your” guys? I love it! LOL Thanks, all, for the suggestions! Let’s see, which one would be “my” guy? Well, guess I’ll have to go with Clooney. Yeah, I can’t help it. But Pierce Brosnan is a very close second. Stop drooling, Diana.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/28 at 12:04 PM

Okay, I’m going with Eric Dane and George Clooney.  But I’m not picky, they all are fine!

Posted by Sandy H on 10/29 at 07:02 AM

Alright, I’m sitting here watching Sean Hannity tonight even as I type and he’s definitely letting the grays come in--no color whatsoever!  cool smirk

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/29 at 05:22 PM

What??? You’re not watching the World Series? Neither am I. Can’t look. If those Yankees don’t start hittin’ a few balls. . . Maybe I should tune into Hannity. downer

Posted by Diana Jewell on 10/29 at 05:26 PM

Nah, I never watch sports--ever.  LOL

Posted by GoingNatural on 10/29 at 05:56 PM

Diana, you can look now...Matsui just hit a homerun and the Yankees are now leading 2-1! grin

Nadine

UPDATE!
The NYY’s are now ahead 3-1, top of the 8th with one out.  Phi’s at bat.

I hadn’t yet seen any pictures of Ben Stiller with silver hair.  He never used to do it for me, but with the silver--he looks so much hotter than before!

Well hello Underneath It All!!  We haven’t heard from you in so long, how nice to “hear” your voice!  How grows your hair?? smile

Posted by lulubell on 10/30 at 12:29 PM

Hi Lulubell...have started a new full time job, so not so much time for the internet now, unfortunately grin I check in from time to time to see you beauties.

Hair is going well, but is in winter slow-grow mode.  I still have a few inches of brownish dyed stuff (most of that is near, next to, my face), but haven’t got a regular haircut in a month or so b/c I’m starting to want some length.  The grey is nice, and is extra light at the temples.  I’m am eager to see how it will look near my face, but it’s looking like that is 4 to 6 months away.

Thanks for asking grin How goes it with you?

Hey, Underneath It All!! You should do an update pic!  New job eh?  Anything to do with music?

Posted by Goldie on 10/30 at 12:47 PM

Hi Goldie!  I’ll post a new picture when I have one that looks noticeably different from the last one I posted...one that shows a change.  The growth has slowed down, so there’s not much new to post.

New music job, I wish grin I am thinking of applying for a food editor position with our town’s weekly Indy paper though!  Wish me luck!

Posted by Underneath It All on 10/30 at 12:51 PM

Love it, underneath it all!  A food editor position sounds fantastic! Go for it!

Oh so interesting about the new men’s line by Paul Mitchell that’s posted on the homepage.  I saw a recent picture of Sting.  Guess what? His hair is BROWN!  Hmmmmmm....

Posted by Goldie on 11/27 at 08:24 AM

Ha! Maybe he was part of the clinical trial! LOL Are you sure it was a recent photo? Sometimes editors just grab whatever “file copy photo” they have of a celeb to stick in an article. Maybe, though, he’s had a wobble!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 11/27 at 08:59 AM

Well, here’s the link.  I was looking for his latest album & I came upon this.  The file photo says it’s from October. (The END of October, no less!)

Looks like he wobbled all right!  (Can I email him & ask if it was for a clinical trial?? Heee...)

i am going to be honest i did not notice too much gray..but he is worth a second look tongue laugh

i know iknow ..we ate big fat hamburgers the day before the giant food fest ...shoot me now…

Posted by louann on 11/27 at 05:08 PM

and oh ps...he pretty much looked like that picture above… smile

Posted by louann on 11/27 at 05:09 PM

Oooo, did you get your burgers at the In-N-Out?

Burgers & a “sighting”, oh you California silvers have sooo much fun!

Posted by Goldie on 11/27 at 05:38 PM

Goldie, just checked out the link. We don’t actually SEE his hair. Just his beard. Do ya think he’s sporting a brown beard with white hair? Nahhhh, I don’t think so, either. Now, I’ve seen guys with dark hair and a beard going white, but never the other way around. Too bad, Sting, you may be excommunicated from CoolGuys! cool smirk

Posted by Diana Jewell on 11/27 at 05:53 PM

There are two photos.  Right above the first photo it has a bar to click to photo #2.  Then you see that the hair on his head is BROWN too!  It is too bad.  He looks so much better with white hair than the boring dye bottle brown!

Antonio Banderas?  Gray?  I don’t see his sparkles on this picture.

Oh they are there Barbara, right at his temples! Of course it is immensely fun just to stare at it, to be sure...heee…

goldie ..not in n out a place called “the counter” where you build your own burgers..mmmmm have not had a good burger in awhile..but usually when i do it is in n out....those really are the best burgers although my son loves jack’s (not jack in the box although who doesn’t love those silly 99 cent tacos???)it’s a burger stand around here…

Posted by louann on 11/28 at 07:50 AM

My brother-in-law frequently drives down to the LA area (his son & DIL are there).  He has been spouting the accolades of the In-N-Out burgers for years!  I’ll have to tell him to look up “The Counter”!

Just saw and heard Jeff Bridges on Conan.
He’s sure matured very nicely and is quite an appealing 60 year old man. Just sent off a picture of him to Diana to include him in this section.

ok ladies....i am not really star struck BUT...one of my neighbors works in the film buisness as a sound guy...he works on some great movies and works alot with some pretty big names...now yesterday his wife called me and said come down i have something for you...hands me a manilla envelope...i’m thinking ok he just worked on a at&t;comercial and i kinda think luke wilson is a cute guy...for my daughter..but it was not him it was MARK HARMON!!..oh yea he wrote my name and everything...i will hang it in my office with my SILVER IS THE NEW BLONDE sign...ok now i am thinking maybe what i will do is when he works with clooney again ( and he will cuz he works with him alot) i will actually ask him to get that BUT maybe i can have him say something like from one great gray to another?? does that sound a little uppity?? who cares!!  seriously i am not the autograph type but hey i am starting to think maybe a collection of the gray men wouldn’t be too bad smile

Posted by louann on 02/21 at 09:20 AM

Drool. Mark Harmon AND George Clooney? Be still my heart. Why don’t you just ask Mr. Sound Guy to take you on the set next time?  Forget autographed pictures, get a picture with you AND George—holding hands—looking deep into each other’s eyes. Boy, would that get posted fast on GGLG!!

I’d settle for an autographed picture, too. Love it that you’re going to start a collection. I think George would be happy for a little “message” advice—must get awfully old trying to think of something witty to say.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/21 at 09:35 AM

how about you send him an autograph copy of your book!!!!! i hear he really is a nice guy and i think he might get a kick out of it!! mmm the wheels are turning...this could be fun…
the “sound guy” is going to be working with jeff bridges in the remake of true grit...now that’s another one that is “easy on the eyes”...i’ll ask him if he sees any gray in his hair to get that one for me too!! we have one of richard gere when he was working on pretty woman when my husband turned 40..ohh that was 15yrs ago and gere was not gray yet…

Posted by louann on 02/21 at 09:49 AM

Well, ya know, George IS in the book. But it was a younger shot, just graying at the temples.  Maybe I should bookmark that page. LOL I thought Jeff Bridges was completely gray. Pretty sure he is. No telling what they’ll do with it in the moooovies, though.

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/21 at 10:00 AM

ok my wheels are turning…

Posted by louann on 02/21 at 10:18 AM

Louann, you little starlet, you!  If only I were closer, we could act like agents and get on some movie set!  Oh, wheels turning indeed!!

Posted by Goldie on 02/21 at 10:26 AM

just looked up jeff bridges and yep he’s looking pretty gray ...especially the beard...ok i am gonna work on that one ...

Posted by louann on 02/21 at 11:39 AM

Under sports men you really need to add Damon Hill - his hair is the most amazing silver.
