Spring Has Sprung!
It’s officially April! And while some of you may think snow in your area is the biggest April Fool’s Day joke of all, others are beginning to see buds sprouting up. So there’s hope. There’s also hope this month in a bottle! If you haven’t noticed yet, we have a special Member gift offer from ColorMark. If you’re in the early transition stages, it’s a wonderful root-hider for special occasions. Comes in real-hair shades, and washes right out. So check out the special link on the Homepage. You have to be a Member and already logged in to be sent directly to the ordering page. If you’re new to the site, and not yet a Member, you can register right here at the Café. (Just click on Please Leave a Comment under any entry.) This free offer is only good for one month, so hop to it like a Spring bunny. We can only honor orders where ColorMark ships, so it’s restricted to the US and Canada. We’re not ignoring all you out there in Gibraltar, the UK, China (I could go on—do you know we have visitors from 29 countries—and counting!) But this is a great offer from ColorMark, and we all should give them a big hug. Have a Happy April!

Thank you Diana, even though I live abroad, my mom lives in the USA so I have asked for it to be delivered to her address. Hope that’s alright.

Hey Diana - You don’t suppose you could work out a deal on free hair extensions for those of us who decided to chop instead of transition?

Well hey! You only go around once
Might as well make it as colorful as possible!!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/04 at 07:51 PM
Diana--thanks to you and ColorMark for this great offer! Just the thing on need when I graduate in June (I think I’ll stand out quite enough due to my age let alone sporting my two-toned hair).
(P.S. just ordered your book--could not find it anywhere here in London, Ontario--all sold out!).
Posted by newbie2 on 04/07 at 10:35 AM
Hi Newbie2—We’re happy to do it! Anything to make transitioning a little easier. Oh, sorry you went scouting for the book. A lot of people have written in that they’ve looked for it in bookstores, so think I’ll use this opportunity here to tell everyone NOT to bother. The first printing did sell out. The second printing (with a new cover) is ONLY available here. I think it’s a far better way to reach women who are truly interested in the subject. There are other copies available at the big internet booksellers (from re-sellers)—but they are usually horrendously overpriced! So you came to the right place, and thanks for ordering!

Hi Diana,
I was just hoping to get it quicker (i.e. right away!) and the site says 7-14 days...but maybe I’ll be lucky and it’ll come sooner.
Posted by newbie2 on 04/07 at 11:11 AM
Hi,
I received my book within about 5 days! It came super fast for me!
You wont want to put it down!!!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/07 at 11:50 AM
Awesome, that would be just in time for the weekend!
Thanks Elizabeth.

Hi Newbie2,
Yep! When I got my book in the mail, I made a fresh pot of Starbucks coffee...lit the fireplace...and hunkered down in my big chair! I was facinated by the wealth of information it contains! It has been a wonderful resource!
You’ll enjoy it from cover to end! Have fun!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/07 at 12:08 PM
No kidding. When I got mine, I read through it cover-to-cover! My husband kept saying, “What are you reading? What’s got you so interested?” I said, “Learning how to be gray and gorgeous.” It has been an inspiration, and a great resource. Other than Diana and Anne Kreamer, have any other books been written on this topic? I haven’t found any, but I wondered if any of you other ladies had come across anything interesting.

Hi,
There is only 1 other resource that I had used before I found Going Gray Looking Great...it is called “passport to beauty”. When I had my allergic reaction in the Fall of 2004, I went on a hunt to find more “natural” based products...my husband actually found me the book. It’s a great resource if you have allergies/sensitivity to beauty product ingredients.
It is based on “beauty secrets” from around the world...things that are indigenous(natural resources) to the culture and country. Kinda like the “Ojan” hair product from the Rainforest Tribes. Which by the way...it came in the mail today!!! I’m using the hair mask right now
I’ll let cha know how it goes!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/08 at 10:11 AM
Yaahoooo!!
I absolutely love the Ojon products( I spelled it wrong in the previous chat)
My hair feels sooo soft!! The mask that I used was kinda stinky, but the shampoo and conditioner were heavenly! Well worth the investment(it’s on the pricey side)...but hey, I used to spend way more on my hair every every couple of months coloring, cutting, and product! Not to mention all the “styling hardware”!
It felt like a hair spa treatment in my own home
Once again...Thank you Diana for the awesome tip!!!You ROCK!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/08 at 12:33 PM
Hey Elizabeth--just wondering which shampoo and conditioner you used, since Ojon seems to have about 3 different product lines.
Posted by newbie2 on 04/08 at 01:03 PM
Hi Newbie2,
I purchased the “shine and protect” shampoo and conditioner, the “hydrating styling cream”, and the “restorative hair treatment”.
I used all of them...it was wonderful!
Posted by elizabeth on 04/08 at 01:20 PM
Hey, Elizabeth—so glad you liked them. But whaddaya mean “stinky” hair mask (restorative treatment)??? I kinda liked it. Smelled like vanilla and maybe some nuts. Or maybe I am a nut. Well, to each her own!
Posted by Diana Jewell on 04/08 at 01:26 PM
Well...I mean stinky...when your own kids AND their friends are saying, “geez mom...what the heck is that smell??” You start to think...mmmmmmm...I wonder if I smell
So...Ladies be warned
you might get a few comments from the “ankle biters” in your home, but it was sooooo worth it

Hi Newbie2!!!
There you are! Thank you so much for sharing your pictures!!! I think I was coloring my hair close to the “old” color that you are getting rid of!
Wow...you have a good start! It was nice to be able to put a face with the “newbie2” name!
I look forward to seeing more of you and that great silver lining

I just ordered my Colormark gift - what a BRILLIANT idea!
If I selected the correct shade, this will be a lifesaver.
Can’t wait to try it on!!!
Peony
Posted by peony on 04/14 at 09:54 AM
Well, Peony—You’ve just popped up like a spring flower! Welcome back! Hope you did select the right shade, but even if it’s a little lighter or darker, people say it does make a difference. Go to it!
Posted by Diana Jewell on 04/14 at 11:38 AM
Hi Elizabeth--Yes, I would say your “before” pic and my dyed colour are pretty close...seems like a popular shade for all of us, that brownish red. I think it’s partly because of what others talk about as a reddish tone that happens when trying to colour over a high percentage of gray hair. Mine, for example, started out a dark brown and I was trying to steer clear of red (my red phase was so five years ago!) and yet it ended up that way. The contrast between the coolness of the black/grey that’s coming in is really making the old colour look brassy--hence the upcoming haircut. I will definitely send in post-cut photo. I’m going to get out and get some of the great products Diana talks about in the book (which I received Friday). Really just enjoying this adventure--and the girls at work are loving it, as I’ve been bringing in all my off-white/beige clothes that I no longer can see myself wearing.
Bye for now.
Posted by newbie2 on 04/14 at 12:22 PM
Good Mornin’ Newbie2,
That’s sooo funny! I did the exact same thing! I went through my closet too and “purged” all the off white and beige, I was shocked to see how much of it I had! When I had that reddish brown hair color, off white and earth tones were my color of choice. A few of my close friends were pretty happy with the “hand-me-downs”.
I am so excited for you!!! You are on the home stretch! This “journey” has the ability to cause a “deep awakening” in our hearts...for me, it was the best part!
Have a great day and enjoy the “product”!
