This site is hopping hot! Got home and had endless messages alerting me to the Cafe activity. My hope is that Oprah catches our fever for the show...already submitted my write-in campaign!
You go girls!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s a great “conspiracy” going on on our pages. Check out Elizabeth’s Story, and Carol’s Story. The plot thickens as some of our Members have decided to promote this website on Rachael Ray, Ellen and Oprah! I decided to check out the Oprah link, and right at this very minute she’s asking if Jamie Lee Curtis has inspired you to go gray! It’s a perfect opportunity to talk about everything that’s inspired you (and I hope this site has, too!). So, I guess this is the beginning of a write-in campaign. Come on, everybody, let’s flood these sites with emails—and let our voices be heard! Here are the links, researched by our gal, Plinkette!

Thanks, Morningstar! Yeah, we’re hoppin’ here! I can hardly keep up! BTW, so glad you’re back posting again—we missed you!

We all need to email all the shows once a week until they get tired of us and give in and have Diana on the show!
We can do this. Maybe we should contact all the network morning shows as well. Couldn’t hurt.

I emailed Oprah. I live about six blocks away from her studio. Wouldn’t it be cool if she choose some of us to go on the show and talk about our decision to go gray?

Have any of you seen the cover and article of the latest AARP mag with Jamie Lee on the cover? Just got mine yesterday...she is inspiring and definitely one of us!

Hi 12Green—That’s the idea! If I’m goin’, I’m dragging a few of you with me! Hey, since you’re only 6 blocks away, next thing to do is picket!!
Posted by on 04/04 at 06:00 PM
Hi Morningstar—yep, I saw it and was going to post it in Newsflash, still might so others can see it. Thanks for reminding me. Haven’t seen the whole article yet, just the cover. I’ll check it out. . .D.

I’m so glad this movement is gathering steam. It takes awhile to reach the midwest. All my friends think I’m nuts for even mentioning going gray. In fact they quoted Oprah who once said that hair dye was one of the greatest inventions ever! Good luck and more power to you all!!

Speaking of Oprah....here is a link to her site which shows beautiful gray make-overs. Well, not a link exactly; you’ll have to cut and paste since I am not as computer literate as I should be (and my kids aren’t home right now.) :o)

Anyhow, go have a look!

Oh my...it IS a link! How did that happen? My kids would be proud. :o)

The link to Oprah was great but I wish there had more younger grays in their 30’s and 40’s in the pics. They all looked GREAT though.

I agree. I would have liked to see some 30’s and 40’s as well. (Or 20’s - That’s for KENDALL!) You have to admit, although primarily in their early 50’s, those babes rocked that silver hair!!! I need to go back and check it out again. I’m curious about their professions. Any of those women could be models, they were THAT stunning. I can’t wait for my hair to grow in. My hair is similar in color to Cathy Guyton’s. Really snowy in front and more charcoal in the back. Maybe I’ll invest in a really good flat iron and have some fun “straight days”!!!

Hey all—that Oprah link was from an article in O, her magazine, from last October. So I don’t think it’s too soon to write her again. And this time, stress the YOUNG part. I agree, these gals looked great! But they’ve got nothing on you guys! It’s all in the photography magic. I think we should all thank Oprah for the great article, and then point out that there’s a whole batch of you who are going gray in your 30’s and early 40’s, you’ve all gotten together on this great and glorious website, and you’d like to be heard, too! D.

Hi 12Green—Hate to sound like an Ojon rep here (I’m NOT—just passing along stuff I love), but I just purchased my Shine & Protect Glossing Mist today, and there’s a good tip on the back if you’re going to flat iron. Says “Apply to dry hair prior to using a flat iron for a smooth, sleek finish with shine.” Might be worth a try for “straight days.” D.

Hi Diana - Thanks for the tip. Once my hair is actually long enough to be grasped by the flat iron, I’ll give it a try. Right now I’d probably burn off my finger tips if I tried to straighten it.

Ouch! Oh, that’s right, I forgot. Still at the fuzzy tennis ball stage? D.

Hello ladies,
I am new to the site and since I found it, I am becoming a bit obsessed about the subject.
My latest fixation is what you refer to as the transition phase. To paraphrase Shakespeare “To chop or not to chop, that is the question?” I have always preferred at least chin length hair, if not longer, and don’t really like layers as my strong hair tends to bush out when short. A close crop like Elizabeth’s is very tempting to avoid the dreaded skunk look. All suggestions gratefully accepted.

P.S.
I have just noticed my last posting is timed at 04.19AM!!!
I am not that obsessed that I am up in the wee small hours on a hair forum, it is a respectable 12.30PM where I am.

I think that happens to a LOT of people here. There are some pretty crazy times! You can set your time zone if you like. If you’re logged in, look at the column on the right. Scroll down past the list of recent entries, and you’ll see a box that says Welcome. Then you’ll see, in blue, Edit Your Profile. Click on that and you’ll go to a place that says Personal Settings. The last choice on the list is Localization Settings. Click on that, and voilà! You can select your time zone from a drop down list. OR we can just think everybody stays up all night!

Maria—back to serious issues. So your hair tends to “bush” out in layers? Ok, cancel the trip to Paris. Come to New York. We have Ouidad. She’s known as the “Queen of Curl” here. I don’t know if your hair is actually curly or just bushy-thick, but if it bushes out only when it’s cut into layers, there’s a reason. Layering creates levels that can curl up into fat rolls. Thinning creates a mix of short and long hair that can shrink up on the short pieces and limp out on the long ones. Texturizing, which involves snipping random pieces of hair, can unbalance waves and send them into frizz. So—now you know what NOT to do. But what I think you should do is just pack your bags and come see Ouidad! Or at least go visit her site: http://www.ouidad.com. Under Signature Services, you’ll find some of her trademark cuts—explained—so maybe you can take some of this info to your stylist. Worth a look, and it’s a wonderful site. D.

You are amazing! I love reading your wisdom!
Hey Maria...when are ya comin’ to New York

I’m still emailing the shows weekly. We all need to do it to get attention.

Speaking of “write in” campaigns...has everyone voted for our own Elizabeth’s fabulous “forever” picture at more.com? Check it out—the pic is of Elizabeth and her daughter. Voting involves a free sign up the first time, but only takes a minute or two—click on “Reinventing the F-word” (left hand side of the screen). Fantastic! If I understand it correctly voting lasts through Sept. 15—and you should cast a vote every day. Elizabeth is 4th today. Let’s keep her in the final five. Fantastic—Besides making Elizabeth happy, it would surely mean some good publicity for this website.
