Now that November is bringing thoughts of family Thanksgiving reunions, I’d like to invite you all to come home! Yup, to the Homepage. I’ve noticed many of you just bookmark your favorite chats and go right to them. Skipping over the “news” of the day or week that may be awaiting you at “Home.” For instance, today I revealed that Teressa Morisco, editor of www.wardrobe911.com has submitted an article to our site, and I’ve done one for hers. It’s a little switcheroo. If you go there, you’ll find some of your silver sisters in the article. Soon, I’ll be putting in a notice about our Halloween pics. Next, we have upcoming Silver Sisters Events to cover, and you’ll get the link. And, always, you’ll find the Latest & Greatest column pointing you to other articles that may have new surprises in them. So it’s really worthwhile to check out the homepage at least once a day. And let’s keep this blog, right here, as the place where you can comment on homepage articles that don’t have their own comment boxes.

Oh, thanks Louann—good for you for starting on homepage! Glad you liked the article. Tried to make the point that there WAS no “now what?”—only onward and upward! Speaking of which, I did get my layered chop today. I’m likin’ it—and my head feels 10 lbs lighter. No pics yet, just not in picture “mode.” But it’s great what layers can do to give you fullness!

I always start at the home-page, then I am always in the loop!!
Thanks Diana!

I don’t always begin on the home-page, but I work my way there often since I know you change it regularly. I try not to miss anything. I’m glad you started this thread. It’s nice to know where to comment on the home page.
Oh - can’t wait to see your new cut, Diana! But I guess I’ll have to. :o) How about no Texas pictures until we see your new cut… :o)
I enjoyed your wardrobe911 article. I frequent by there since someone shared the link. I also enjoyed Teressa Morisco’s piece on this site, though I have trouble following so many style rules. I tend to do my own thing and then my daughter gives me lots of advice, or should I say constructive criticism. :o)
Posted by on 11/05 at 09:08 PM
NO Texas pictures? Why, Greeneyes, are you blackmailing me?? Careful. The great and mighty OZ can do funny things to your pictures behind the curtain! I’m thinkin’ green hair to go with your green eyes . . .
Speaking of scary, go look at a few of our Halloween pics, under Great Grays. Sorry, this is one I couldn’t announce on the homepage. No room yet!
Posted by on 11/05 at 09:37 PM
Louann—you’re not the only one who can’t remember what “corridor” she’s been in. One of our loyal lurkers requested a site map. We’re working on it. I tell ya, even I get lost sometimes!
Posted by on 11/05 at 09:39 PM
Diana, greeneyes wouldn’t blackmail you, but I might! I went to the mall yesterday to pick up a couple of gifts for my grandchildren (I’m off to Quebec until next Tuesday) and had to pass by my hair salon. Well, it wasn’t busy so in I went and out I came, with my new PIXIE!!
It is so great, I LOVE it, there is still some color on the ends, but one more cut in about eight weeks and finished! Talk about impulsive, I don’t even know now how I had the confidence to do this
or maybe I do. Thanks to this site and all the support I find here I have become quite a different woman!!!
Posted by on 11/06 at 05:20 AM
Awwww. . . what a nice thing to say, Lulubell. And YAY!! for your new pixie! Natch, we all can’t wait to see it. But is this the blackmail? No pic from you until I send in one? Not fair. May have to wait a bit for mine since I have to go to a memorial service this morning, it’s raining and windy out, and when I return, my hair will definitely NOT be camera-ready. Besides, I have no place to put mine at the moment.
But if you want to hold out on us. . .
Posted by on 11/06 at 05:50 AM
I will have to hold out for a while Diana, too much going on right now with packing. We are leaving in a few minutes with my oldest Grandaughter in tow. She is anxious to visit with her cousins. It will be non-stop chattering for the next 6 plus hours or so!
My photos will have to wait a while yet, but, they will be to you as soon as possible.
Hope you have a good day in spite of all going on with you right now.
Posted by on 11/06 at 05:58 AM
Ok, Lulubell—we’ll TRY to be patient. But it won’t be easy! I’m imagining your pixie right now!
Posted by on 11/06 at 06:03 AM
Just popped in to find that not only Diana, but also Lulubell has had a hair make-over! Okay, ladies. I will be patient with both of you. :o)
Diana - Okay. No blackmail. Especially when you reminded me who is in control of OZ. :o) Also, my thoughts are with you today as you attend the memorial service.
Lulubell! You spontaneous girl! I am so looking forward to seeing your pixie! :o)

I wasn’t sure where to mention this but I’m amused by Helen’s rose on the shoulder. Helen, you are getting there. Interesting to see how the remaining dye has faded so much since the first photos.
Posted by on 11/06 at 12:32 PM
helen you have great hair!! i love seeing all those “smelly” products you use…
also love the rose..
diana thinking of you today…
and you lulu....stop having fun with your grandkids and send us your pic…

I decided to start letting my grey come through back in February. By July and August I was dying it again. And since then I had three months regrowth. Yesterday I booked another appointment to have dark lowlights put in. 3 hours after making the appointment and having spent the whole morning thinking about it, I phoned up and cancelled, and felt euphoric. The urge to be natural and go grey is stronger than the pull to dye my hair and be conventional.
Posted by on 11/07 at 08:15 AM
Ya-hoooo, Jane!
And the best part of making a decision like this is—you can stop TRYING to decide. You can just sit back, relax, and watch what happens! That’s exciting, too.
Are you ever going to send in your pics???? ‘Cuz this would be a perfect posting for the “newbies” blog.
Posted by on 11/07 at 08:21 AM
I promise to send some pics Diana. Right now it isn’t obvious at all ....... going to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks time and will see if a photo then will show you my sprinkling of grey that is just dying to be seen!!
Posted by on 11/07 at 08:30 AM
Great—I envy you—so let those itty bitty silvers shine in the sun! And take those shots!
Posted by on 11/07 at 08:33 AM
Hi!
yay...yet another blogspot!
Diana~ you ARE the great and powerful Wizard!
Lulubell~ c’mon! send in that pixie photo! don’t hold us in suspense
Sharon and Louann~ thanks so much!!
Sharon~ I hope you enjoyed my homage to you! I had my daughter take my picture outside to send to Diana (once I unburied my camera from my bookshelf). I have roses that go into overdrive right before our New England winter sets in...My one rose had sent out one 7 foot shot with the most beautiful, scented rose at the end. What can I say? It made me think of the picture of yours so figured I’d send a needlephobic image in your honor! (since I am totally needlephobic so that’s the closest I’ll ever get to a rose on my shoulder
All the best ! ~ heck, maybe we’ll all need an across the pond meeting sometime, hey? Helen G
Posted by on 11/07 at 06:28 PM
May be entirely possible, Helen. You know Jane, posting just above, is also from the UK. Wouldn’t those baseball caps look great in Jolly Olde?
Posted by on 11/07 at 07:38 PM
Oh yes, I liked the homage
Posted by on 11/08 at 01:04 AM
Diana~ how about a pushpin map on that globe for each of your newbies/graduate-bies? Maybe I’m in post election-day withdrawal but seeing how many people are from the Texas area made me envison a big map with little pins...whaddaya think? only in your spare time you know

oh yea now we have alaska!! this is fun...we are quite worldly!!
how bout we change this to “there’s no place like home”

Posted by on 11/08 at 07:53 AM
Yeah, and click our ruby slippers together three times!
Oh, and Helen, about that pushpin map.
No seriously, not even possible because often the place of residence is not included in Members’ addresses. Only way I know is if someone tells me. I do know all the cities, states and countries where book orders come from, but doesn’t mean people who order the book are necessarily Members. Cute idea, though, whose time has not come.
Posted by on 11/08 at 08:32 AM
oh well…
anyway, if RyanAir starts doing their cheap flights from Boston to the UK, I’m in! (that’s a rumor in our local paper...fun fun)
Posted by on 11/08 at 09:34 AM
Wow—that WOULD be cool, Helen. Let us all know how low they go! Be fun if we could get a few of our Scottish sisters to come down for it, too. I won’t quite put you in as Team Leader yet. . . let’s watch those fares!
Besides—what’s happening New England-way? Got something in the works?
Posted by on 11/08 at 10:00 AM
Hi, Diana. I’m anxious to see your layered do! I’m a new member but not new to the site or the book, which inspired me to go silver. A fun thing I’ve done to jazz up my hair is add a chunk of white to frame my face. My stylist and I dreamed it up, and I love it. It’s so close to the white I already have that no roots come in. After the agony of the growing out process, I didn’t want anything that would involve maintenance.
Posted by on 11/08 at 12:08 PM
Wow, rockthesilver—that’s neat that you COULD add a white streak! I tried, but my darkest hair only came up to a pale yellow.
Would love to see a pic of this!
But now it’s gone, because of my new cut. Which I put in the Great Grays Gallery, replacing one that was already there. Go look!
Posted by on 11/08 at 12:38 PM
I love your new haircut! Wow. My stylist had to leave the color on a LONG time to get the white streak really white. We agreed yellow would not do. You can kind of see it in my member profile picture, but I’ll see if I can come up with a better one and send it for the Great Grays Gallery.
Posted by on 11/08 at 01:32 PM
Well, rats! I see Sallee, but no one else in the 911 article. I have IE. Oh well. Just whining. :o)
Posted by on 11/09 at 06:58 PM
Greeneyes—I have alerted Teresa at 911 about this problem, and she’s looking into it. IE is very tricky sometimes. In the meantime, do you have any other browser you can use? Firefox? Safari? All the pics show up on either of those.
Posted by on 11/09 at 07:52 PM
Oh, thank god, greeneyes!! When I first went to the site I could only see my pic so I emailed Diana and said I didn’t see anyone else, so I went back and still no one else, then someone posted how they liked Lisa picture from the article and I’m thinking, the tech gods are funnin’ with me, but here I find your post and I’m like whew, I’m not losing it.
Posted by on 11/10 at 02:46 PM
Sallee - I’m so glad I could reassure you that you are not losing it. Unless...I am losing it too! hee hee hee… One never knows.
My kids have just informed me I went and lost it this weekend, so maybe they’re right. :o)
Back to the 911 article. I can’t even see YOU! I couldn’t, then I could, and now I can’t again. Oh well. I just came back to this site and had a look at all of you and thought, oh well...I can just have a look at them anytime I want here. :o) But I do think it’s a negative that other unsuspecting women reading the article cannot see the great photos. You know. The ones who don’t visit this site and really do need to see all of you beautiful grays.
Posted by on 11/10 at 03:47 PM
SALLEE!! The “IE Alert\” has been up on the homepage now for two days. You can’t get there from here. Well, you can, but you’ll only see you. Some people don’t even see you. Try the two servers I mentioned to greeneyes. You are not losing it. You’ve obviously only lost the homepage! Center of all vital communications.
Posted by on 11/10 at 03:50 PM
Okay, I’ll give that a try. And I haven’t lost the home page, it’s always been there, that’s where I go to begin every day. I just hadn’t heard until I read Dara’s post that anyone else was having a problem and I don’t have the computer on the weekends so I just now saw it. I’ll give the other servers a try. Thank you.
Posted by on 11/10 at 04:26 PM
HOT NEWS! Teresa at 911 tells me they fixed the problem. It was due to some “weird code.” So it should be able to work on IE now. All you IE-ers, please give it a try and let me know. Thanks!
Posted by on 11/10 at 07:57 PM
hi Diana~ it’s fixed...I could see the photos and sidebar comments that weren’t there before.
Love your new haircut, too!

Oh yes! I see them, I see them! I liked the article before, but the added pictures and comments iced the cake. Great article, Diana.
Posted by on 11/11 at 06:57 AM
Diana, as greeneyes said, I liked the article before, but the pics and everyone’s comments absolutely make the article. And if I haven’t said, I’ll add my, “your new cut looks soooooo good” and what a great picture of you.
Posted by on 11/11 at 08:31 AM
Well, thanks, guys. It’s fun to share “our” point of view with others. And, really, the great quotes from our Silver Sisters really made the article! So I should thank each and every one of them for sharing their true feelings too!
Also want to give a shout out to all the wardrobe911 gals who linked up and visited us! Stick around and chat! Even if you haven’t made the decision to go gray. Always fun to present another point of view.
