Lovin It

Romance is in the air! This Valentine’s Day, we give kisses to all those who have “weathered” our transitions with us, loving us all the way. Husbands, boyfriends, significant others, and those who just made us feel good about going natural. They’ve all won our hearts!

Feel the love! No better place to start than with a shot of Yasmina and her husband, Djamal, taken in Tulum, Mexico. Member Yasmina proudly points to the fact that Djamal has gray going on in his beard and hair.

Lisa B, “Newbie 2” currently in our Newbies Graduates Gallery, with Grant. Two shining examples of silver.  But here’s the BIG scoop everybody – Grant proposed on January 3rd, and now Lisa’s bf is her fiancé! And in case you didn’t notice her ring, check out Lisa’s updated picture in the Newbie Graduates Gallery. Are you going to invite all of GGLG to the wedding, Lisa? If not, we’ll settle for bride pics!

That’s our Jo-Anne, Sandpinkshimmer, in a recent photo with her husband Gordie. There’s a romantic internet story here. They met online in the summer of 2005, and married 14 months later when Jo-Anne moved to Charlotte from her native Toronto. Together they run a successful promotional marketing business from their home. Jo-Anne says her hair doesn’t show its true colors here, but who’s thinking hair at a time like this?

Nothing is as romantic as a wedding, and here’s Member Susan McGraw (“Great Inspirations”) with her husband, Paul. Married on July 27, 2007. There’s a love-ly story behind this, too. Susan met her husband as a real estate broker showing his house in the Hamptons for a summer rental. She says she got a “great commission” on the job – Paul! Today, she says, they have a “solid love,” and isn’t that the very best kind?

Sallee met De online, too. And she hasn’t stopped smiling since! First came the emails, in which he explained, because of a football injury, he had to use a wheelchair, but then came weeks of phone calls, then visits, lunches, going to quirky independent films, taking his dog Tequila to the park, and having lots of fun. Sallee says she’s never met anyone like him, admires his positive attitude and thinks he is just a “special human being.” And, look, Sallee’s still smiling!

Kissies! Laura (RunnerGal) met her silver fox husband Adam while they were both working at the Los Angeles County Jail 19 years ago. She captioned this “Love Birds,” but said maybe it should really be called Jail Birds! They left jail behind long ago, have been married 17 years, and have two wonderful teenage sons. So why does Laura look like a teenager herself?

Mr. & Mrs. OZ, here.  I have to say, David is really the guy behind the curtain, because he supports us in all that we do. And he’s heard one or two tales of you! We met at an artist’s loft party in SoHo, and married in April, 1977.

Louann met Jim at a football game when she was 16. He was an “older man”—17. Rah! They married in May, 1977, have three children, and after almost 32 years, are wondering what the soon-to-come empty nest will bring. My bet is lots of love and laughs! Here they are hangin’ out in their humble backyard. No?

Karen and Randy met on the beach in 1970, and it’s been a big part of their lives ever since. They were married two years later, and will celebrate their 37th this July. Randy says he counts their anniversary from the day they met because it was a “life changing day.” Awwwww. And Karen says he’s the same handsome guy she fell in love with nearly 40 years ago when he was surfin’ those waves.

New newbie Kim (Class of ‘09) met her Randy at a card/book store where she worked at the time. He kept coming back, day after day, getting up the courage to ask her for a date. The rest is history. A year later, wedding bells! They’ve been married for twenty-five years, and have three lovely daughters. Randy has a head start on gray, but looks like Kim is catching up!

Sweet Dede (Newbie Graduates Gallery), is huggin’ her Marti, and happy as a clam. They also met online, married four years ago and have three children between them. Although she says their kids never come between them, “we’re all in this together.” Marti, a university professor, let his hair and beard grow for a role in a musical this month, and Dede has her own personal Don Quixote!

Bambi (RuffDiamond Newbie Class ‘08 Second Semester) says she “bumped into” Kim on the internet because of their mutual interests in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts, but there hasn’t been any “combat” ever since. They met February 27, 2005, and on the 27th of every month, Kim sends her flowers to celebrate another 30 days of love. And, folks, this has been going on for 3 years, 11 months and counting! He also proposed on that very same date, gave her a gorgeous diamond, and said, “I have decided to keep you.” Is this guy a romantic, or what?

Our newest Newbie Barbara (Class of ‘09) met her photographer husband, Bodo, at an advertising agency, where he was Creative Director. This was in 1971, and she knew immediately “this was my man.” They married in August ‘75, honeymooned on Stromboli, and joined forces to work together. Barbara manages the studio, Bodo does the shoots. Still very much in love, Barbara says they can’t imagine life without the other.

Here’s Leeja (Newbies Graduates Gallery) with her Brad at a recent Mardi Gras parade. They’ve been together since college, married thirteen years, and have two little girls. Leeja says Brad is with her “every step of the way,” and cheers her on in everything she does. And we know that means while she was going gray!

Cheri (SoCalSilver) met Wayne when she was a new-hire paralegal at the law firm where he was a freshly-minted motion picture and television lawyer. He spotted her at her interview and was disappointed she got the job because staff and attorneys just didn’t mingle. One week after she started to work, Cheri had to attend the company Christmas party, and as she headed to the door after the obligatory glass of wine, the young attorney stopped her, said “You can’t leave without dancing with the only single attorney here,” and the rest is history. That was in 1978, they married in 1980, and here we see them on a recent Santa Ynez Valley Wine Country tour.

Yes, Diana, I will be the first to check these out, or at least the first to comment.  What beautiful pics of everyone!  Stunning couples all the way around!  Gives me the warm fuzzies! xoxo to everyone this Valentine’s day!  kiss

Thanks for posting these Diana.
Now everyone repeat after me.....MUST NOT WEAR YELLOW!!!
-Jo-Anne

Posted by sandpinkshimmer on 02/01 at 07:33 AM

Jo-Anne - you’re so funny.  You look great in that shirt in the pic!  You still have enough of the blonde to pull it off.  But, you are right ... when the gray comes over I don’t think it’s going to work as well!

Posted by grayincali on 02/01 at 08:37 AM

Oh my gosh!  These are all so beautiful.  What’s amazing is everyone looks like they belong together!  Working on my picture as I type!  Should be in soon.

Posted by SBKaren on 02/01 at 01:45 PM

Diana, this is a great section .. very nicely done!

Lisa, congratulations! How wonderful for you!

I’m still sneezing, hacking, and feverish - so no photo taken today. Diana has a photo of me and my sweetie when we first met (also an internet meet!), but although my sweetie is handsomely silver, I am colored dark brown.

Hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon, and the photo will make it this week.

Ladies, you all look lovely and in love smile

Posted by RuffDiamond on 02/01 at 03:48 PM

Hello all!  Thanks for all the congrats!  Well, Diana, we are having a veeerrry small wedding but we will be getting some professional photos and you will be among the first to see them!  These are all beautiful pics.  Diana, you are so lucky to have found long-term love and you two still look like newlyweds!

I LOVE the photo of Susan and Paul.  I am really struggling with whether or not to wear a traditional wedding gown (white), and seeing Susan here, hmmmm...it’s really got me thinking maybe not.  She looks just stunning!

Posted by newbie2 on 02/01 at 05:32 PM

Awwwww. Really sweet page! Thanks, Diana.

Posted by butterfly_dream on 02/01 at 05:34 PM

Louann, just realized you and your hubby have been together since ‘77 as well!  You are the ones who should be congratulated!  Yay!  Here’s to love stories that never end!

Posted by newbie2 on 02/01 at 05:36 PM

What wonderful pics of all you lovebirds.  I should have gotten on my pony so that you could see me and my Sugarbear!

Posted by Scorpioanne on 02/01 at 05:58 PM

LOL We’ve had a few pony pictures on this site. Is this a serious relationship???

Thanks, Lisa. Yup, we’re still mushy. Now back to your dress. Isn’t Susan’s white? Or maybe it’s ivory. You’ll have to keep us posted on your decision. Ooh, maybe it should be silver satin.  I know Suzanne said silver for the bridesmaids, but what about you?  I love wedding planning! Have you set a date yet?

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/01 at 06:47 PM

Oh i love to see all these wonderful pics of you, gals.
Hope there are coming some more.
Sallee, I like to see you with you pirate of love.
Diana, such a couple in harmony. It’s so nice to have a man around the house!

Posted by Barbra on 02/02 at 04:25 AM

There is nothing like love.  You all look wonderful and happy.  We may be on this site to help each other go gray but love in our personal lives and with each other is what life is all about.

My DH and I will be celebrating 22 years this Saturday and I couldn’t be happier.

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 05:09 AM

Oh, I too want to congratulate you Newbie2 and I look forward to seeing the wedding pic’s, you’re a beautiful bride-to-be.

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 05:12 AM

Diana, we have set a date--September 25 (a Friday--but, unlike you, I do NOT seem to love wedding planning and am getting very clear messages from others about what I “should” do.  It’s confusing.  This is my first wedding but Grant’s second, so with that and the fact that I’m a “mature” bride, I’m trying to figure out what’s right.  I thought Susan’s dress looked pale pink.  I bought a lovely blue satin gown that a friend of mine thought would make a beautiful wedding gown, but I’m having trouble letting go of the dream of the white dress.  I have 8 months to figure out which way to go!

Posted by newbie2 on 02/02 at 05:54 AM

WOW!  Look at all of the lovebirds!  Congratulations, newbie2!  It’s just great to see everyone so happy and in love!  AAWWWWW...great job Diana!  You and your hubby look great!!

It’s so amazing to me how we all seem to “match”!

Posted by wtxgray on 02/02 at 06:34 AM

newbie2...DON’T GIVE UP THE DREAM!!!  Let me tell you something...this is the LAST TIME you’ll ever have the chance to do this...and it’S YOUR DAY!  The perfect dress is out there for you, and you’ll find it!  So many of my friends and I have been mature brides...and the fashion industry is very aware of that fact!  Your dress is out there!
~dede

Posted by wtxgray on 02/02 at 06:37 AM

lisa,
dede is right the fashion industry knows you are out there!! better yet maybe you can have marissa design one for you...and then she can just “whip it up”!! right marissa??  smile

my sis-in-law made her 2 daughters dresses ..they were lovely…

Posted by louann on 02/02 at 06:41 AM

Ummm, There are two items I’ve not sewn and they are wedding gowns and prom gowns and I’ve not pressed the issue on them.  With the first I imagine there is a lot of emotion and with the second too little fabric.  The girls who’ve wanted me to sew their prom dresses would do just as well with a bikini. yikes!

I’ve never been asked to do a wedding gown although I did alter and re-hem my gown (scalloped beaded lace hem)and I do love and seem to excell at new challenges it would be difficult unless newbie2 were willing to come regularly for fittings.  wink Thanks for your conficence in me Louann.

Lisa, dede is right It’s your day and I know it will be wonderful and you’ll be gorgeous no matter what you decide.  Don’t fret, it will all come together and when the day is over and your new life begins the two of you will have a life time of memories from the whole process.

Marisa (uno “s” por favor) grin

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 07:28 AM

Thanks Marisa!

You are all so sweet and supportive.  smile I’ll let you know what I decide.

Posted by newbie2 on 02/02 at 07:30 AM

Nice to see the added picture of Karen and her Randy. :o) Sweet story, too.

Posted by greeneyes on 02/02 at 07:52 AM

Nice additions with Louann and Karen and hubbies!!!  I wonder if your pic is from stargazing Saturday evening, Karen!  We were down at the beach, but my 5-year old was running around and got a bad cramp in his chest.  Don’t know what it was but it scared my friend and me and we promptly went back to her house.  He was really crying for about 5 minutes and then seemed fine.  So, we ordered take-out and decided to lay low.  It was a beautiful night ... hope you had fun!

P.S. - gotta love the Katin shirt!!!

Posted by grayincali on 02/02 at 08:24 AM

Lisa, as you know, my Husband and I lived together for a few years before we tied the knot.  When we set our wedding date the only detail we knew was just that, the date.  We got into our motor-home and headed south to Conway, South Carolina along with our best friends (Maid of Honor, Best-man).  We scouted around and found a lovely, southern style Courthouse with huge Magnolia trees surrounding it.  It was beautiful!!  We went in, made an appointment with the Justice of Peace and within an hour we were married.  My Husband surprised me with my beautiful wedding band right there!  I wore a white linen pant suit with an ivory lace cami under the vest and white strappy sandals.  It was perfect.  Just do what feels right to both you and Grant and the rest will be Wedded History!!  By the way that was in 1999, so, if you do the math, I was more than “mature!” LOL

Posted by lulubell on 02/02 at 08:29 AM

Lulu, what a great story!  I love how you chose to “tie the knot!” Alas, we have some family that have been waiting a long time for this (my side thought I may never get married), so my Dad is excited to have the chance to walk me down the aisle, and Grant’s family don’t want to miss it.  So no wild elopement for us.  We’re keeping it small and family-centred, but it will still be local.  We actually have already booked a chapel and an officiant, and have a venue booked for the dinner.  We’ll each have one attendant and our sons will both be involved in the service.  As you can see, I’m very pre-occupied about what to wear, so thanks to all for your stories!  I bet you looked gorgeous, Lulu!

Posted by newbie2 on 02/02 at 08:36 AM

Just re-read my message.  Terrible grammar--for shame, English graduate!

Posted by newbie2 on 02/02 at 08:37 AM

Sounds so exciting Lisa!!  Makes me want to do it all over again!!  Same guy though, and same way!! LOL Thanks for the lovely compliment! smile

Posted by lulubell on 02/02 at 08:46 AM

Lisa, congratulations! I’ll have to go see the ring.

Lulu that is a great story. You’re so right about doing what feels right for you, but boy, I’ve heard some stories of extreme pressure, so Lisa, go with what will make you feel beautiful and comfortable. Something about brides. Every one is radiant.

I love how everyone is smiling in all the pictures. Diana, you and your hubby look so great. Kicked back and having a good time.

Laura, the kiss pic is perfect.

Jo-Anne, great pic, I love it when guys wear hats.

Louann, you both look so happy and how super that he came along to the Getty to take pics.

Karen, you two look perfect together, really. You look so beautiful with your natural color.

Susan, you just never know where you’ll meet “the one”, do you? Don’t you love men in tuxedos? Something about them just transforms most men. I know they usually don’t like to wear them but when they put them on, woo hoo, they always look great. You look radiant!

Barbara, you’re so cute. De gets cold really easy so he likes to wear the bandanas and we were in Venice Beach that day and the wind was blowing sooooo hard and it was cold. He has a great head of salt and pepper hair but keeps it cut short. He would love it that you called him my pirate of love.

Posted by sallee on 02/02 at 11:44 AM

Lulubell-you most certainly can do it all over again!  Renewal ceremonies seem to be all the rage right now.  I’m planning to have another ceremony next year someplace tropical in conjunction with my husband’s 60th birthday.  My immigration to the US got so screwed up that the only way to rectify the situation was to get married on the spot (it’s a really, really long story).  I never got to wear something nice.  God, my hair wasn’t even washed that day!  I’ll be damned if I’m going to get cheated out of wearing something really pretty and feminine.

Lisa--there are lots of really cool places within driving distance of London to host a great wedding, big or small.  But then, you know that.

Posted by sandpinkshimmer on 02/02 at 12:52 PM

SPS, you’ll be in the graduate gallery by then, yes?  I love romantic stories. I hope you’ll keep us updated and seems you certainly deserve to wear something beautiful, the first time probably wasn’t what you envisioned and how cool that you will do it again and have that chance.

Posted by sallee on 02/02 at 02:07 PM

Sallee--Yes, I think I’ll be a few months into being fully transitioned by next spring.  It’s just going to be me, my husband, and some kind of officiant on a beach.  Hopefully I can arrange for a few photographs to mark the occasion and send to GGLG.  Now for the perfect dress.....no ideas yet but maybe Lisa will give me some inspiration.  Something elegant, flowy, beachy I think....oh and barefoot! —Jo-Anne

Posted by sandpinkshimmer on 02/02 at 02:15 PM

SPS, sounds perfect, you’ll find just the right thing to wear and yes, maybe Lisa will inspire.

I’ve been married twice and neither one worked out and I’m okay with that, just don’t think I’m good at the marriage thing, but the second time I got married the ceremony was at a friend’s house on Newport Bay and I didn’t wear any shoes, which is what I wanted to do the first time but, I was so young the first time around I was pretty much told what I was going to do and the second time I was determined it would be what I wanted. The marriage didn’t last very long but 12 years later my friends still talk about the party after the ceremony, at least something was memorable about the day!

Posted by sallee on 02/02 at 02:42 PM

Kim, you are very beautiful and with your natural color you are going to just shine.

Dede, could ya smile any bigger?! You both look so happy. How great is that?

Bambi, what a guy you’ve got there. I hope you’re feeling better and he’s gonna love your natural color, you’ll look awesome.

Barbara, oh my gosh, are you and your hubby going to just be the most outstanding couple when you are totally transitioned?! You look great together now but I can’t wait to see you as a grad.

Oz, you have been busy.

Posted by sallee on 02/02 at 03:13 PM

Wow, Oz you’ve outdone yourself again.

Somebody get me a tissue, I’m not kidding, I’m teary eyed.  I love, love stories, I can’t watch or read one without a tissue box nearby.  You can ask any of the men in my house, they just rolleyes their eyes and go get a box for me. They’re sweet and you all look so sweet, adorable and happy.  Gotta love it.

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 03:31 PM

Wow, keep sending those pictures in ladies.  They are fab-u-lous!

Posted by sandpinkshimmer on 02/02 at 03:35 PM

You all look fabulously in love!  Thanks for sharing!

Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound

And I don’t know if I’m being foolish
Don’t know if I’m being wise
But it’s something that I must believe in
And it’s there when I look in your eyes

(John Paul Young, “Love is in the Air")

Posted by SoCalSilver on 02/02 at 04:07 PM

Just remember ladies and gents, I’m not the one who started the “song stuck in the head” thing this time.  tongue laugh

But now that I think about it it’s been a while since my DH broke out into his rendition of “The Love Boat”.  He’s a great guitarist with an awesome deep voice but sadly refuses to sing in public.  He played lead guitar for many years.

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 04:20 PM

Marisa, at least your DH has an awesome voice. De loves to sing and knows he can’t but does anyway. In fact he just did his rendition of the Love Boat theme for me last weekend. It was not to be missed. tongue laugh

Posted by sallee on 02/02 at 04:29 PM

Really, really cute couples!

Posted by Graycefully on 02/02 at 05:09 PM

Sallee, I can’t sing either.  Once durring an all school mass, my then three year old screamed at the top of his lungs “please stop singing” definitely directed at me.  The entire eigth grade turned and starred at me.  All I could think to do was say “Okay”.  The same child, when he was around twelve, asked me why I never sang when we were at church! grrr ....now I do again.

Some of us can, some of us can’t, some of us should and some of us just shouldn’t.  Personally I think singing is like skipping, it’s just plain fun, and that’s probably why De loves it so much. smile You’re a lucky gal.

Posted by Marisa on 02/02 at 09:45 PM

Thanks, Sallee!  Yep...that’s that grin that I always try to rememeber to tone down for pictures...but can’t help myself!!!  You should see some of the pics that didn’t make the cut to send in to Diana!! Hilarious!!

I’ve got to fall in line behind Marisa as one of the wives who can’t sing...and has the hubby who can...he can be rehearsing “Dream the Impossible Dream” and sounds better than I’ve ever heard it sung...(but then again, he’s sung in Carnagie Hall)...meanwhile...I’m jamming to an old Neil Young song, butchering it so badly...that ole Neil himself is knocking at the door with those puppy dog eyes saying..."Darlin’....please...you’re gonna have to remain that Unknown Legend” cool mad

Marti wrote and recorded a song for our wedding reception that is just wonderful...hang on...i’ll sing it for you...heehee
~dede

Posted by wtxgray on 02/03 at 05:14 AM

-see...i can’t even spell it...Carnegie Hall…

Posted by wtxgray on 02/03 at 07:07 AM

Marisa, I am one lucky lady. De’s singing is absolutely heartfelt. We spent one night remembering all the kids shows and cartoons we used to watch and he’d sing the theme songs. I’m like, How do you remember all those words?! Not to mention all the commercial jingles. He’s very funny. When he calls my daughter says, Oh, comedy hour is starting. I must laugh the entire time we’re on the phone. He’s really good doing voices, probably from his voice over days. He has this incredible speaking voice. It’s funny how some people who are such outstanding singers won’t sing in public, but I guess it’s like you get a private concert each time.

Dede, don’t ever tone down that smile. The world needs as many smiles as it can get, and you’ve got a great one. How romantic that Marti wrote a song for you. I went to a friends wedding and her hubby got up and sang a song for her and everyone had tears. He wasn’t the best singer but it did not matter. You could hear his love for her in every word.

Posted by sallee on 02/03 at 08:45 AM

Be careful, Marisa’s going to need another tissue. Even my eyes welled up at that one, Sallee!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/03 at 09:01 AM

Haha,so much fun to see you all!!
Petra.

Posted by catweezle on 02/03 at 09:07 AM

Diana, it really was one of the most romantic things I’ve seen at a wedding.

I wrote this thinking how one must feel about someone they truly love.....

When my best friend and lover
Is away from me and gone
It feels like the harmony
Has vanished from my song

In the mornings I remember
As I open up my eyes to wake
That he’s gone and I won’t see him
It’s like frosting missing from my cake

Until he’s back home with me
A bitter taste is in on my lips
As he’s the creamer and the sugar
In the morning coffee that I sip

His touch brings heat to me
Stirs my passion and desire
I grow cold when he’s away for
He’s the match that is
The light to all my fires

The colors in my life so brilliant
He leaves. They fade to black and white
On his return, he’ll bring his palette
He’s the artist that paints my world so bright

In my dreams I’m always drifting
Waiting for your last corner to be rounded
Hurry back to me and bring your love
It’s my anchor, the one that keeps me grounded

Posted by sallee on 02/03 at 09:16 AM

Diana, too funny, As I was reading Sallee’s post I was thinking, Oh brother, where’s my box of tissues again.

I gotta go, but Dede, don’t ever tone down your smile!  You either Sallee!

Posted by Marisa on 02/03 at 09:18 AM

Hi Sallee—thanks for sharing your poetry. It is so hard to put feelings out there for all the world to see, and poetry touches the deepest feelings in us. You said you wrote this thinking how one “must feel” when they are deeply in love. Hmmmmmmm—just curious, did you write it before or after you met De? smile

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/03 at 12:31 PM

I wrote it early last year, Diana, thinking about how I wished I could feel about someone, but just couldn’t.

I don’t know De well enough yet to know if he’ll be all those things to me, but I do know that when I don’t talk to him everyday, something is missing. smile

Posted by sallee on 02/03 at 01:04 PM

Well, that’s pretty much a good sign! A sign that your heart is open. Maybe you’re getting away from the “just couldn’t” to at least “maybe I could!” As we say above—lovin’ it!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/03 at 01:08 PM

Oh the photo album is growing!  Diana - this is so much fun and I just love the idea!  It’s nice to see the ‘other’ half of everyone. Maybe we should do one with kids next rasberry then grandkids shut eye  Oh wait - WHAT am I saying???  This is MY grown up site - never mind - leave it just the way it lovingly is!  grin

Grayincali - yep - that picture was taken on our walk down to dinner and star gazing. My son-in-law took the picture and we got it just in time - the sun just dipped down right after that picture was taken! We had our daughter, SIL and twin grandsons with us - and YES - the star gazing was fabulous.  There were about 5-6 really large telescopes - saw the craters of the moon, Venus, and the sword of Orion and a nebula.  I’ll be there every time they have this event.  Looking closely into the night sky is an eye opening event for me.  Last April I was able to see the rings of Saturn, and we should be able to see it again this March or April- I’ll be there for sure!

I sure hope your son is OK now and my husband wears anything ‘surfing’....LOL

Diana, it is a good sign, I agree. Thank you for saying that.

Louann, I’m glad you enjoy my poetry. All my pieces are about my life and the experiences I’ve had and the people I know. Sometimes it’s just something I see or hear that gets me thinking and then writing. I have written one about De and gave it to him, he loved it. It’s kinda personal so I didn’t post it on my website. And you’re right, Mark Harmon in a pretty cute gray and I saw a picture of George Clooney in a magazine yesterday and the mag did a survey and showed a pic of him with his dark hair and then one with his gray hair and something like 72% liked him with his gray. He does look great!!

Posted by sallee on 02/04 at 08:28 AM

Awwww, this page is adorable!  You all look so sweet, and I like that poem.

smile

Posted by Medusa on 02/04 at 01:48 PM

louann - I have seen the ISS (International Space Station) fly over many times.  I also go to this other site - it’s actually a weather site - but this guy on the site is really into things that happen in the sky.  He has provided a heads up on everything that you can possible see.

A couple of years ago I did the Great American Star Count - found it on his blog. You didn’t actually count stars, but search for a particular constellation and then rate the intensity of the brightness.  What they were really keeping track of was light pollution. It was a world wide event and they do it every year. It was very interesting and I encouraged all the kids at my school to participate too!  It was definitely a family event!

If you haven’t guessed by now I like anything that gets me outside! tongue laugh

Leeja, you and your hubby look great, and you look fab with your hair back like that.

Cheri, I kept wondering where you were!! Look at you lovebirds. Your hair is getting long and it looks great.

Posted by sallee on 02/09 at 08:23 AM

Thanks Sallee.  It is amazing how snuggly and lovey dovey one gets surrounded by acres of gorgeous scenery.  Do ya think the fact the picture was taken at our fourth winery of the day made a difference?  tongue rolleye Nah! Twenty eight years of marriage and he’s still my best friend and lover.  He always will be.  PS:  We hired a driver that day so no one in our party was drinking and driving –even if we were only tasting.  Great fun!

Posted by SoCalSilver on 02/09 at 10:42 AM

Ooh, wine tasting. I’ve never done that but hear it’s a ton of fun and good idea about the driver, more fun that way. You can so tell you two love each other, wine or not. wink

Posted by sallee on 02/09 at 10:47 AM

Faith and begorrah!  Shamrocks and emeralds! I feel a fit o’ green comin’ on.  Louann, I second your motion...great grays in green.

Sallee, maybe a wine tasting weekend some time in the future would be a good idea for a SoCal gals event--Santa Barbara county has several appellations and dozens of good to great wineries. Ya don’t have to get “Sideways” to have a great time either.  Just a thought.

Posted by SoCalSilver on 02/09 at 11:03 AM

Yeah, and the following month you’ll all want to be in Easter Bunny suits. LOL I think I’m sticking with the cap idea! Oooh, can you hear a collective hiss from all the Irish relatives, SoCalSilver?

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/09 at 11:27 AM

LOL .... for any of the Irish transitioners, they’ll just have to be wearing green in their updated photos ! smile

Posted by RuffDiamond on 02/09 at 11:37 AM

Oh, sneaky, very sneaky. wink

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/09 at 12:02 PM

well i am trying not to be concerned that our great oz just can’t seem to get into the “holiday” spirit...man oh man i am not sure what you do with all the “free time” you have but geesh...how much time could it really take putting in a few “green” pics?? ; )
ha ha
i get it i get it...well i guess the next pic i send in will be ME IN A GREEN BUNNY SUIT DRINKING A SPOT O BUSHMILLS !!!

or maybe i can get so cal silver to come and pick me up and take me to santa ynez!!!do a bit o the wine tasting…

hey jims sister used to share a driveway with one of those wineries off ballard cyn road!! those were fun days!! it was owned by the wrigley (gum) people…

ahh i digress (imagine that)

i have been surfin’ the net today looking for a variation of my usual haircut since i am getting it cut tonight…

if you google short choppy bobs interesting stuff comes up…

well i am probably going to get into trouble for rambling on and on in the wrong spot…
so better go
i have to go pick up the bunny suit from the dry cleaners… (his name is “harvey")(loved that movie)

bye
cool smile

Posted by louann on 02/09 at 01:47 PM

LOL THAT I gotta see!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/09 at 03:20 PM

What is a bushmill?  Louann, can’t wait to see the green bunny suit. cheese

Posted by Marisa on 02/09 at 03:39 PM

Thanks Ladies smile. I love seeing all the love birds too, and all the Great Gray guys.  My husband doesn’t have a gray hair on his head and probably won’t until he’s 70, lol. I guess I’ll just have to be gray for the both of us.

Leeja

Posted by Leej on 02/09 at 04:07 PM

Leeja and Cheri .... love the addition of your pics here.  Leeja, I just love the look your wearing here.  Great headband!  Looks very cute and funky!!

Posted by grayincali on 02/09 at 04:22 PM

The Great Gray couples just keep growing. I am sooo loving this!  I wonder how many years of marriage there are on this page....I’ve read of quite a few long ones.  That is sooooo good to read in this day and age!  Anyone want to count?

Posted by SBKaren on 02/09 at 04:30 PM

OK I did it myself.  Some don’t mention number of years, but it’s impressive anyway - approximately 227 years of wedded bliss!  Wow - that’s a lot of ♥ ♥ ♥ floating around!

Posted by SBKaren on 02/09 at 04:33 PM

I was impressed by that too, SBKaren. I guess the moral of the story is a Great Gray always keeps her man! wink Which is good news for all of you who are worried that your husband won’t like the new silver you!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/09 at 04:35 PM

That is a lot of love floating around!

Thanks Suzanne. I don’t have many styling options right now, so the headband is it.  I got some great ones made by a lady on ebay. I think the gray has me starting to explore my funkier side. Kind of fun.  I just can’t wait for a little more length.  I just barely have enough to pull back right now, lol.

marisa...bushmills is irish whiskey...which by the way i have never tasted… smile
seriously

Posted by louann on 02/09 at 08:35 PM

Well, that’s not very Irish of you, Louann! I can tell you this, it’s good in Irish coffee. But so’s Jamesons. A little whipped cream, a sprinkle of nutmeg, and you’ll be dancing a little jig!

Posted by Diana Jewell on 02/09 at 10:10 PM

Oh my!  What happened to Valentines Day?  I’m still dreaming of chocolate and roses.

Sallee, I neglected to mention earlier that your poetry is wonderful.  Beautiful thoughts expressed beautifully by a beautiful woman.  Kudos, my dear.

Happy Valentines Day everyone.

dede - a vacation in the wine country .... on your harley, of course!  Now that’d be the way to go.  I can see it now ... perhaps you’ll have that flowing mane of silver by then!  That would be SO cool!

Posted by grayincali on 02/10 at 07:27 AM

Thank you, Cheri. You’re right, we haven’t even had our chocolate yet!! Although, on Sunday De gave me some chocolate wrapped in red foil and a box of the sweetheart hearts.

Wow, 227 years, it does give one hope!

Posted by sallee on 02/10 at 09:39 AM

well guys my rite-aid has been “celebrating” valentine day since DEC 26th...so i guess that is why i “jumped” on to st pattys day...please accept my apology!…

bye

merry christmas

Posted by louann on 02/10 at 12:06 PM

Louann, you are so great. Thanks for all the smiles you give me during the day. cool smile

Posted by sallee on 02/10 at 01:03 PM

Louann - you crack me up - but what is sad is the fact that bathing suits ARE out in stores now and if you need one you’d better get it now because when you really want one in June or July you won’t be able to find one!  Scary huh?

Something about swimming in 50º weather just doesn’t suit me well excaim

Posted by SBKaren on 02/10 at 01:41 PM

Dede......You and Marti are adorable!

Carole

Posted by Carole on 02/13 at 09:53 AM

Oh wow - I’ve only just seen this thread!  You all look so gorgeous, I’m still smiling.  All beautiful photos of really beautiful people.  And your grey hair looks super.  I just want mine to grow, grow, grow now!  grin And Diana - red is most definitely a flattering colour for silver hair.  You look so vibrant and glowing!  Jane xx

Posted by Jane on 02/13 at 11:11 AM

Happy Valentine’s Day all you love birds. Have fun, stay warm, dry and safe, oh and healthy, too.  cheese

Posted by Silverhair on 02/15 at 02:37 PM

Dede....Meant to comment on your weight loss too!  You are looking fab!!!
Hope you are still planning to head up this way in June.

Posted by Carole on 02/18 at 08:42 PM

Hey Carole!  Thanks for the compliment! Sure is slow going for me!  You’re looking great too!! You’ve done better than I have!  You betcha we’re still headed up your way in June!  Found a great cabin right on the lake!  I’ve already sent them my $$$!!!  We’ll have to get together!

How would you all feel about an entry for me and the woman in my life?

Posted by newleaf on 02/26 at 04:08 AM

Hi Newleaf --
As far as I’m concerned, love is love, and we are all blessed to find it. However, this article was for Valentine’s Day, and it is now closed. I leave it up here because it’s always nice to feel romantic!  smile
